Birthday Party!

These past weeks have been so busy. I cannot believe my baby is in the "toddler category" and yes everything that comes in the toddler category has become part of my son... bruises, tantrums, EVERYTHING goes into his mouth (pennies, bugs)... It has become a little more work but we sure have loved every single stage our little one has gone through... Time goes so fast all we have to do is treasure every single moment of it! Here are a few pics of the day our baby entered toddlerhood.
Here's our bday boy!

I'm not a huge baking person but I sure had fun making these cupcakes.

My friend made this "Tres leches" cake for the grown ups. It was so delicious!!! (Thanks Martin)

The little guys had so much fun decorating their candy bags...

Thanks for the gifts everyone :)

Photography

I was once told that the best photographers are really just the best editors.

While there may be some truth to the statement, it is not to detract from the art of photography. It is the magic of capturing a specific moment, an odd angle or a pop of contrasting color and light. It is the art of finding beauty in the ordinary and everyday. It is the decision to make those things permanent and special by the click of a button, the flash of a bulb (and of course in our case, a little bit of luck, some digital enhancing, and a bit of good editing;)

{the 2 on the left hand stenciled by ME and the one on the right hand stenciled by KYLE}

Our Weekend...

Our weekend was awesome!! to start off... we posted our furniture on KSL and that went really well, i mean really well... the first thing we posted was our couch, which I personally didn't want to sell YET... but Kyle thought it wouldn't sell that fast... an hour after i posted it, a guy came to pick it up :( now i only have a really crappy couch to sit on... but over all i'm happy our things are selling and we don't have to worry about it anymore.
Saturday night we had a game/dinner activity @ our Branch... It was so much fun... they had sooo much food, I couldn't believe it... but what else can we expect from a spanish branch... we had clowns and dancing... It was Morrison's first time to see clowns and he did really good, he didn't even get scared :) he just stared at them... a studying stare!

... and I won these mugs... aren't they cool?!

Spooky Halloween!!

We started our Holloween journey @ Cornbelly's Pumpkin Patch and corn Maze... We had a blast but were blasted by the freezing cold wind... I had never gone to a corn maze before nor a pumpkin patch... It was great to be able to experience it with my beautiful family! We only got lost in the maze a few times ;)

After freezing our buttuties off we headed home to carve our pumpkin...

This is our great pumpkin... "The Robo Lantern" Designed and brought to life by Kyle and I... and PLAYED with by Morrison :) he was crying because he thought it was a ball and it wouldn't bounce...

And our halloween ended with a couple parties where we dressed up, played the Wii, sang karaoke, ate lots of candy and enjoyed the company of our friends...

Updates!

So, it has been a long time huh?! I know I just get really lazy about blogging and finding what to write about... I sometimes get a little discourage when I see no comments and wanna STOP blogging... I don't know, but anyways...
This last month Morrison and I went to Southern CA to visit my second to oldest brother Jorge and his fam. My nephew turned his first year and was baptized in the Catholic church... So we had a HUGE party... it was so much fun!! I enjoyed watching Morrison and Jorgito my nephew, playing together... I'm glad that for now he has a cousin close his age to play with... I also enjoyed the company of my oldest and youngest brothers... i love spending time with my fam... Specially because I don't get to see them that often, which makes me a little sad :(

*Morrison is now 9 months and 3 and a half weeks old... doesn't crawl yet... which is OK, we're not in a hurry, although he started bottom scooting a couple of days ago which from what I read it is a part of crawling... he's 21 3/4 lbs and 28 3/4 inches, half of me lol... and apparently, I am getting younger because everywhere I go people do not believe I'm 26... we are still cloth diapering and love it!
*We bought the Wii and the Wii Fit Plus, which is Amazing! Kyle (Kyle works out more than I do) and I have been working out and feel a slight difference in ourselves... It is pretty fun, we have been wanting to buy one for a long time and found a great deal on it at COSTCO... Neither of us are huge gamers but we do like the Wii...

*Well and for those who don't know yet... Kyle got accepted to BYU Hawaii fot the winter... So we are heading there Dec. 29th... We are waaaaaay stoked on it... although this couple of months left are going to be CRAZY and I'm not looking forward to it... We are selling all of our stuff... we are going to have yard sales, posting pics on KSL/Craigslist and everything we can to get $$$... My dad was kind enough to buy my car... which once was his hahaha... I know I feel so bad about selling it back... So we are driving the car to him back in MD which is a 3 day drive with baby on board... I'm actually excited for the adventure... we'll blog about it...
And here are some pics from So Cal...

been a long time coming...

For those of you that have been to our house this is old news but here it is, our painting "painting naked"

I wont say that it took a ton of talent, but it was fun. it is a pretty good visual metaphor of our lives, sporadic, spontaneaous, energetic, passionate.

We look forward to many many more.

Separation Anxiety

Now, I bet by the title you all think that I am going to write about Morrison, and how we cannot leave him with anyone and go out by ourselves without him throwing a huge fit and crying the whole time. (and if you were not thinking that, then you should have been because he would be and is at that stage) However, that is not what this is about, this post is about ME!
I am suffering from the adult form of separation anxiety, commonly known as "missing" someone, or some two as in my case, or something.
so, what is separation anxiety? In small children, separation anxiety comes from a lack of understanding object permanence, or that what leaves from ones view can come back. It is this lack of object permanence, when applied to mom or dad as the object, that iniciates the separation anxiety. The young child feels like the person or people that takes care of him or her, once gone, is not coming back. so, that is the cold explanation as compared to the warm explanation that moms and dads prefer that the baby just really really loves them and can't stand to be without them.
now, that brings me to me. I really really love my wife and baby boy and i cant stant to be without them. I did not realize how hard it would be to leave them at the airport today. (for those of you who dont know, sandra took morrison to california where a bunch of her family have gotten together for our little nephews baptism in the catholic church) anyways, as I was saying, I did not realize how hard it would be. I have left them before, I left them with my family for a few days in Idaho. Sandra has gone to D.C. before. But there was something different about today. It was really difficult to watch them go.
I walked them into the airport to help sandra with the bags and morrison, we got them checked in and i walked them to the security check point. I hugged and kissed them both and walked away. I stopped when i got to the top of the escalator and stood there for five minutes as they got through security and headed off to the terminal. I can't say that i cried, but it was the closest i have come in a long long time. I had the lump in my throat and that feeling in my chest... the same one i am feeling as i write this. so, i am going to stop, but, needless to say. I really really miss my amazing and gorgeous wife and my beautiful baby boy.
Te amo mi amor. Te aprecio. Gracias por todo q me haces y todo el amor q has traido a mi vida. te adoro. y amo, adoro, y extrano a morrisoncito, dale un gran besote, y morrison, dale un beso a tu mama para mi. I love you both.

Happy Birthday my beautiful Guatemala!

Today, 188 years ago a group of valiant men signed el "Acta De Independencia" of Guatemala... September 15th, 1821... Today kids, teenagers and seniors, sell flags out in the streets... The little markets decorate their walls with blue and white representing our falg colors... at schools, the teachers and students decorate their clasrooms with the patriotic symbols and everyone congregates to sing our beautiful National Anthem... Oh, how I remember those days and the power I felt as we all sang the anthem. Guatemala, my beautiful Guatemala, my sweet home!

A day at the park!

Labor Day/Alpine Slide!!

We woke up with the plans to go to Timpanogos Caves with the Benson's... at the entrance to the park they said the Cave tours were sold out and parking was full through out the park... so we headed North to Park City. I'm glad we ended in Park City though... we decided to ride the Alpine Slide... Oh we had so much fun, and the view on the way down was amazing!

CLOTH FOR CHUNKERS

I know, I know, Sandra already talked about the cloth diapers, but i thought i would put my own 2 cents in.

So, we asked ourselves, "selves, what are two of the big issues plaguing this world today?" (you see, we look global, sure a lot of you might be thinking the big issues are the economy and health care, WRONG, those are too localized, think bigger... nothing on this planet is bigger than, THE PLANET!) so, that was our selves answer, selves said, "the world economic crisis and living green."

So here we are, we are starting a movement, no more filling landfills with diapers that will be there until the end of the millenium, now we are filling hampers with diapers that will be there until the end of... well, until we get to washing them i guess. No more emptying our wallets on diapers that will last til the end of the month, now we are emptying our wallets on things that we want! (like paying down my stupid credit card, i guess;)

we lead by example and invite all to join in the movement! parents, make a stand, for your planet and your wallet, babies, make a stand for your planet and your parents wallet, babysitters make a stand, for your planet and your wallet, grandparents make a stand for the planet and your wallets (i'm sure they make cloth diapers for adults too!) LET US ALL MAKE A STAND, FOR THE PLANET AND OUR WALLETS!

CLOTH FOR CHUNKERS! CLOTH FOR CHUNKERS! come on everybody, join in! CLOTH FOR CHUNKERS!!!!

Cloth Diaper Adventure!

We've decided on cloth diapers... Today is our second day and so far so good... I know... it's crazy to say it has been good so far... How can Cloth diapering be so good?? well all we think about is how much $$$ we will be saving... and the good we are doing to our planet... Yes, it will be a little more effort but hey who cares! we have to do laundry anyway, so why not add an extra load?! So here are some pics of our lovely son debuting his new cloth diapers... and a few of the things we got...
